Man dies after three-vehicle collision in Longford

A man in his 30s has died following a three-vehicle collision on the N4 near Edgeworthstown in Co Longford.

The collision which involved two cars and a van happened on the Longford town side of the N4 after the Edgeworthstown Roundabout at around 7pm this evening.

The driver of one of the cars, a man aged in his 30s, died in the crash.

Another man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital.

His injuries are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening.

The road is currently closed for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7.15pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
