A pedestrian has died following a road traffic collision involving a car in Co Kildare.
The incident happened at around 6pm on the R445 Monasterevin Road outside Kildare town.
Gardaí have said that the pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in the incident.
The road between Monasterevin and Kildare Town has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
An appeal for witnesses has been issued and gardaí have asked road users who were travelling in the area between 5pm and 6.30pm and who may have footage, including dash-cam, to make it available to them.
