A man in his 40s has died after he was struck by a car in Co Kildare.
The incident occurred at around 6pm on the R445 Monasterevin Road outside Kildare town.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The road between Monasterevin and Kildare town was closed for a technical examination, but has since re-opened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who were travelling in the area between 5pm and 6.30pm and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045-527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
