Two men who were arrested in connection with the investigation into a fire at a building housing International Protection applicants in Co Louth have been charged and are due to appear before court.

The fire broke out at the building in Drogheda on Halloween night.

Four children, including a baby, were among five people rescued from the top floor of the IPAS centre.

One of the man, aged in his 20s, was arrested in Louth last night, while the second man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested this morning.

Both are due to appear before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court this evening.

A number of people were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, following last Friday's incident. It is understood none had serious injuries.
