Man, 30s, dies after being struck by bus in Co Kildare

A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a bus in Co Kildare.

The incident occurred between J8 and J7 eastbound on the N7 motorway at Kill at around 3.30pm.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght University Hospital, where he later died.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Two passengers on the bus were treated for non-life threatening injuries, while the driver, a man in his 30s, was uninjured.

The N7 between J8 and J7 was closed overnight for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area at the time to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The man's death brings to three the number of pedestrians killed on Irish roads since last night.

A man in his 80s died after he was struck by a car on the N83 in Co Galway last night and a man in his 40s died after being struck by a car in Co Carlow.
