A motorcyclist has died following a road crash in Abbeyleix, Co Laois.
The crash happened on the junction of the Portlaoise Road and Ballyroan Road on the N77 at around 7.50pm yesterday.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident.
The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road from Main Street in Abbeyleix to Tonduff Cross on the Portlaoise Road is closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
An appeal for witnesses has been issued and gardaí have asked that any road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 7pm and 8pm and may have footage to make it available to them.
