Pair charged with burglary, criminal damage in Celbridge

A man and a woman have been before the courts charged with burglary and criminal damage offences earlier this week at an address in Celbridge, Co Kildare.

Richard O'Leary, 36, with an address at Bawnlea in Tallaght, and Samantha Leeson, 34, of no fixed abode, appeared at Blanchardstown District Court earlier today.

Detective Garda Conrad Casey, from Leixlip Garda Station, told the court that he arrested the two on Monday and both were charged the following day.

They have both been charged with criminal damage and burglary with intent to commit criminal damage.

Barrister Mark McMahon, representing Mr O’Leary, told the court that his client would be applying for bail for which gardaí objected to.

Judge David McHugh said the two charges are both "very serious matters", before he refused bail.

He remanded Mr O’Leary, an unemployed father of five, in custody to appear again in Cloverhill District Court next Friday, 4 July.

Ms Leeson’s legal representative, Leonard Leader, also applied for bail, which gardaí opposed also.

Judge McHugh refused bail and remanded the mother of two in custody to appear at Blanchardstown District Court via video link next Tuesday, 1 July.
