A woman has been brought to hospital after she and another woman got into difficulty while swimming in Bray, Co Wicklow.
Both women are in their 30s.
Emergency services and gardaí attended the scene off the Bray seafront.
One woman was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment.
The Greystones/Wicklow Coast Guard said its boat and land crews also attended the scene.
