A man has been charged in connection with a number of incidents of criminal damage in the Ravensdale area of Co Louth.

Petrol bombs were thrown at a parochial house in Ravensdale, around 10km north of Dundalk, last Sunday night.

Damage was caused to the exterior of the property, but the fire was extinguished before it could reach the inside of the house, and there were no injuries.

Prior to that, in the early hours of last Saturday morning, the house was defaced with graffiti.

It is understood the message written with the graffiti was "satanic" in nature.

A number of cars were also damaged in the Ravensdale area earlier in the week.

A man in his 30s was subsequently arrested yesterday by gardaí.

The man has since been charged and is due to appear before Drogheda District Court this afternoon.
