Louth County Council has confirmed the details of a civic reception next week in recognition of the exceptional sporting achievements of Kate O'Connor and Eve McCrystal.
Dundalk pentathlete O’Connor last month took home the first Irish medal from the World Indoor Championships in 19 years.
The 24-year-old posted three personal bests in the five-discipline event to claim second spot on the podium in Nanjing, China.
It came just 12 days after O’Connor made history on the European indoor stage with a bronze medal in Apeldoorn - that being the first senior medal won by any Irish athlete in a multi-event.
Meanwhile, McCrystal, who will also be honoured next week, has won several gold medals at Paralympic Games and World Championships competing in the Women’s Tandem events as pilot on both the road and track.

A glittering partnership between the 46-year-old from Dundalk and para cyclist Katie-George Dunlevy came to an end last September by the pair winning the silver medal in the women's B 3000m individual pursuit at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Arguably one of Irish sport’s greatest pairings, Dunlevy and McCrystal finished a decade competing together with three gold and three silver Paralympic medals, five World Championship road titles as well as a host of other medals, including a bronze at the UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023.
The civic reception in honour of O’Connor and McCrystal will take place at county hall in Dundalk next Thursday evening and is an invitation-only event.
