A man in his 60s has been killed in a two-car road collision in Co Westmeath.
It happened on the N55 at the Pigeons in Tang, between Athlone and Ballymahon, at around 11am this morning.
The man, who was driving one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been taken to the mortuary at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore where a post-mortem examination will take place.
Two men in their 80s, including the driver of the other car, were also injured in the collision.
They are both being treated at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore for non life-threatening injuries.
The road remains closed and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage including dash-cam and were travelling in the area between 10.15am and 11.15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
