Two men in their 20s have been seriously injured in a single-car crash in Co Westmeath.
It happened in Rathowen, on the N4, the main Dublin to Sligo road shortly after 2.30am.
Both men were taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.
No other injuries were reported.
The road has been closed for a technical examination.
Diversions are in place and will affect those travelling on the N4 between Mullingar and Longford.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N4 near Rathowen village at the time, to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
