A man has died in a house fire in Co Meath.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene in Moynalty, north of Kells, at around 9am.

The man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The fire was extinguished by Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service.

A technical examination of the scene is being carried out by gardaí this afternoon.

However, it is understood that foul play is not currently suspected.
