The owner of Athlone-based skincare and wellness company deDANÚ has said that she still cannot believe how many times the company's products featured in the new film 'Bridget Jones: Mad about the Boy'.
Leah Fletcher said a team working on set design contacted her about a year ago with a view to using some of the company's products in the movie.
"Someone who been working on the film had used our face cream for postpartum acne, and she had loved it, and she thought of us straight away, because it matches in what they wanted to do on set," Ms Fletcher explained.
"So they contacted us and we didn't really believe what it was at first, because it seemed a bit too big for a small little brand," she said.
"But we provided them with some materials and product to have a look at, and then they said they'd feature it and put it into one scene.
"They did the scene, and they said they wanted more. They even invited us over to London to see the set but I was too busy at the time to go over," she laughs.
Eagle-eyed cinema goers will spot the brands' Elixirs on Bridget Jones' bedside locker and their hand cream and face cream on her bedside dresser.
Other products have been placed Bridget's mantlepiece and in her bathroom.
"They even featured us in a pharmacy scene and took a lot of our branding and logo posters and put them up inside the pharmacy and in the front window," Ms Fletcher said.
Fan-captured footage during the film's production reveals a full shopfront with huge posters of deDANÚ products showcasing the 'Made in Athlone' tagline.

Ms Fletcher and her husband James brought their team to the cinema in Athlone on Friday to see the film and were pleasantly surprised.
"You just don't know where you'll feature in the end so we it was a surprise to see that our products featured in around ten or 11 scenes.
"The inclusion of our products in the film not only highlights the brand's commitment to quality and authenticity, but also showcases Irish craftsmanship on an international stage," she said.
"You could never buy that type of publicity and exposure,'’ she added.
deDANÚ was set up in 2020 by Leah Fletcher and her husband James Demello. The couple met in Vancouver in Canada and returned back to Ms Fletcher's native Athlone to launch the company.
Their products, which include botanical products, oils, creams and serums are made in a scientific environment at a premises in Athlone.
They were the first in Ireland to put cannabigerol into skincare products, navigating legal hurdles to produce such a range.
