Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby at a house in Co Longford, yesterday morning.

It is understood the baby - who was just a few weeks old - was found unresponsive at the house.

The body of the baby was taken to the mortuary at Crumlin Children's Hospital where a post-mortem examination has taken place.

The results are not being released for operational reasons, and a file is to be prepared for the coroner's court.
