Drugs and counterfeit goods worth more than €500,000 have been seized in a series of operations carried out by Revenue officers.

Cannabis and other illegal drugs were discovered in parcels at premises in Dublin and the midlands,

The parcels had originated in the UK, Thailand, Czech Republic, US and Canada, destined for various address across the country.

In total, 23.7kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of almost €462,000 and various other drugs, including cannabis edibles and diazepam, valued at €1,315, were discovered.

Six weapons were also intercepted in packaged which had originated in the Czech Republic.

More than 200 counterfeit goods, with an estimated value of €58,750 and which included items branded Adidas, Birkenstock, Canada Goose, Ugg, The North Face and Patagonia were seized.

Detector dog Ciara was involved in some of the searches

Revenue officers also seized 32L of alcohol and a small amount of tobacco from passengers passing through Rosslare Europort.
