A woman in her 30s has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Co Louth, in which a cyclist was critically injured.

The incident occurred at around 6.25pm on Monday on the R132 near Whitehouse Cross in Dromiskin.

The cyclist, a man in his 40s, remains in a critical condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The woman was arrested this morning.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
