A man has been arrested following the death of a woman in Gorey, Co Wexford.
The woman, who has been named locally as 32-year-old Paula Lawlor, was found unresponsive after gardaí and emergency services were called to an incident at a home in the Baile Eoghain area shortly after 3am this morning.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being held at a garda station in the east of the country.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
A technical examination of the scene will be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The body of Ms Lawlor was brought to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.
This is expected to continue until late tonight and will determine the next steps in the investigation for gardaí.
Senior gardaí have been meeting at Gorey Garda Station about the incident.

"It's a huge loss of a young woman’s life, six days out before Christmas," the Fine Gael TD said.
Local Fianna Fáil councillor Joe O’Sullivan said that people in the estate and in Gorey are shocked and saddened by the news.
"Something like this to happen in a quiet estate in a provincial town brings huge shock to the area. It’s not something anyone expects," he said.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses, particularly any road users who were in the area and who may have dash cam footage, to contact Gorey Garda Station on 094 30690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
