Woman, 70s, seriously injured in Dundalk hit-and-run

A woman in her 70s has been seriously injured after a hit-and-run incident in Co Louth yesterday, involving a stolen car.

The car the woman was driving was involved in a collision with an SUV, which had been stolen earlier.

The collision occurred on the Armagh road in Dundalk at around 1pm yesterday.

Two people in the SUV fled the scene on foot.

The woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, with serious injuries.

Gardaí carried out a technical examination of the scene and the road has since reopened.

They are appealing for any witnesses, in particular any road users who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time, to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
