A Dundalk restaurant visited by US President Joe Biden during his trip to Ireland last year has closed its doors.
In a post on Facebook, McAteers The Food House said that it has ceased trading as of today.
The business said that it was "impossible for us to continue trading", and that, after a difficult few years, it had become "harder by the day to keep the ship afloat".
The restaurant cited numerous factors, including high costs, as being behind its decision.
"Brexit did not help and Covid changed so much.
"Now all these issues currently experienced in the hospitality industry such as really high food costs, energy, packaging, and just basic supplies, together with this government's insistence on keeping the VAT rate at 13.5% instead of 9% and all the extras they have thrown on to the small employers, has made it impossible for us to continue trading".
McAteers The Food House had been in business in the centre of Dundalk for 15 years, and in April of last year hit the headlines after President Biden dropped in during his visit to Dundalk and the Cooley Peninsula.
On the first day of his three-day trip, Mr Biden left his motorcade during a drive through the centre of the town for a walkabout, and spent time inside the restaurant where he bought some sweet treats.
