A man aged in his 40s has died following a single-car crash in Co Westmeath.
At around 6.40pm, the vehicle hit a roadside ditch on the R395 at Teevrevagh in Castlepollard.
The man, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Teevrevagh, to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
