A man in his 30s has died following a road crash near Edenderry in Co Offaly last night.
The single-vehicle crash occurred on the L1005 at Bracknagh near Clonbulloge at around 11pm.
The driver, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to the Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, including any road users with video footage (including dash cam) who were travelling in the area around the time of the crash to contact Tullamore Garda Station at 057-9327600 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
The man's death brings to 79 the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this, according to latest figures.
