Inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority are to visit the site where a man was fatally injured in a workplace related incident in Ballymahon, Co Longford yesterday.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 7.30pm after a man aged in his 60s, who was working on a closed section of Athlone Road, was struck by a works vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the incident and have preserved the area for an examination.
The local coroner has also been notified.
The HSA has confirmed it is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.
