Wexford General Hospital has said it is dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19, with one area of the hospital affected.

Due to increased infection control measures the hospital is restricting visiting to Patrick's ward.

Visitors to the ward will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances where a patient is at end of life or critically ill.

The hospital said those who need to contact Patrick’s ward can phone 053 915 3000, and they will be put through to the nurse manager there.

The Ireland East Hospital Group said that visiting to other areas of the hospital is currently permitted for one visitor per patient at a time and it has asked that no children visit the hospital.

The hospital has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
