A man in his 50s has been arrested after Revenue customs officers seized cocaine worth more than €876,000 at Rosslare Europort.

The drugs were found on Saturday as a result of "risk profiling" and the help of Revenue's mobile X-ray scanner.

Around 12.5 kgs of cocaine was discovered when officers searched freight from a ferry that had arrived from Cherbourg, France.

The arrested man is being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in Co Wexford.

Investigations are ongoing, Revenue said.
