Three juveniles have been arrested after a garda car was rammed in Co Louth.
An investigation is under way after a patrol car was rammed and another driver had to take "evasive action" to avoid being hit during a "managed containment operation" in Dundalk this evening, according to a garda spokesperson.
The operation was put in place after gardaí identified a car which they say had been the subject of an "unauthorised taking" on Monday evening.
The three male juveniles were taken into custody shortly after.
Two of those arrested have been since released pending referrals to the Youth Diversion Programme while the third remains in custody.
A garda who was in the car that was hit has reported unfit for duty, while all gardaí involved are receiving support from local management and the wider organisation, the spokesperson added.
They are appealing for any potential witnesses or anyone with camera footage of the incident to contact them at Dundalk station.
