A man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Co Carlow.

The incident happened just before 6.45am in the Gráig na Spideog area, on the N80 between Carlow and Wexford.

The man was the driver of the car that hit a truck.

No other injuries were reported.

The stretch of road on the N80, about 5km from Carlow town at Ballybeg, between Castletown Cross and Glynn's Cross, is expected to be closed until this afternoon to allow a forensic examination of the scene.

Local diversions are in place.
