Two motorcyclists have been killed in separate incidents yesterday evening.

A man in his 40s died following a road crash on the R357 at Mullaghatour, Belmont in Co Offaly at around 6.45pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road is closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage to contact Birr Garda Station on 057 916 9710 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Another man in his 40s died after a crash at Junction 1 Southbound of the M1/M50 slip road in Dublin at around 7pm.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in this incident.

His body was later removed to Beaumont Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

The road has since reopened following a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
