Man dies in road crash in Co Meath

A man has died in a road crash in Co Meath.

Gardaí said one car was involved in the collision on the R147 road, between Kells and Virginia at around 11.55pm last night.

The body of the man was removed from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries have been reported.

The R147 has been closed from Carnaross to the Kells Business Park entrance, as an examination of the scene is being carried out by forensic collision investigators.

Road diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, and are asking road users who were travelling on the R147 between 11.30pm and 12.15am who may have camera footage (including dashcam) to make the footage available.
