A 69-year-old man is still in garda custody following a fatal stabbing at a house in Kilkenny city.
Emergency services were called to a house at Meadow Way in the Newpark Lower area of Kilkenny, just before 6pm yesterday.
Refal Cednarzcyk, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was originally from Poland, but living in Ireland for a number of years.
His body has since been removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out by State Pathologist Dr Sally Anne Cullis.
Members of the Garda Technical Bureau have carried out a forensic examination of the scene.

The man in custody was known to Mr Cednarzcyk.
Gardaí have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area, which is a residential estate not far from the Castlecomer Road.
