A man aged in late 30s who was arrested yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Paul 'Frank' Byrne has been released without charge.

A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The man was the fifth person arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder more than 12 years ago.

The remains of Paul 'Frank' Byrne were discovered on 29 July 2010.

He had been last seen on 15 July 2009 at Kilmartin Green in the Tallaght area of Co Dublin.

He was reported missing by his mother the following day.

His remains were found a year later by forestry workers felling trees in the Ballyfolan area of Blessington, Co Wicklow.

His remains were identified through a DNA profile.
