A murder investigation is under way following the discovery of a man's body on farmland in Co Meath yesterday.
It is believed the body was left at the scene in recent days.
Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are carrying out forensic examinations of the scene at Belgree Lane in Kilbride.
The man's body has been taken to the city mortuary in Whitehall in Dublin, where a post-mortem examination will be done by State Pathologist Dr Margo Bolster later today.
It is understood gardaí are following a number of lines of inquiry as to the identity of the man, however no formal identification has yet been made.
His body was discovered wrapped in heavy material, possibly carpeting, in a wooded part of the farmland yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí at Ashbourne are appealing for information from the public.
In particular, they are asking anyone who travelled along Belgree Lane on Friday or yesterday to come forward, and motorists who may have dashcam footage are asked to make it availabe to gardaí.
Anyone with information should contact the incident room at Ashbourne Garda Station.
