Fleadh Cheoil to return to Mullingar in 2023

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann has confirmed that the Fleadh Cheoil is returning to Mullingar next year.

The announcement was made following a meeting of the ard-chomhairle at Cultúrlann na hÉireann in Monkstown, Co Dublin today.

Mullingar hosted the Fleadh earlier this summer, welcoming in the region of 500,000 visitors to the town.

Wexford and Belfast had made applications to host the event next year.

"It has been a great privilege to host this fantastic event and showcase Ireland's Hidden Heartlands to a global audience," said Cathaoirleach of the Fleadh Executive Committee Joe Connaire.

"Today’s news is a testament to the Comhaltas volunteer committee, with the support of Westmeath County Council, and the passion that was collectively brought to make this year’s Fleadh a resounding success and an unforgettable one," he added.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 is set to take place in Mullingar from 6 to 14 August, 2023.
