Tributes have been paid to former Fine Gael TD Kieran Crotty who died yesterday at the age of 92.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar led tributes to Mr Crotty, who served as a member of Dáil Éireann for 20 years.
He served in the Dáil for the Carlow/Kilkenny constituency from 1969 and 1989 having come from a political family.
A well-known businessman in Kilkenny, he worked for 30 years in public service on Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Corporation and served as mayor for six years.
Mr Crotty was a former Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party.
Mr Varadkar described Mr Crotty as "a true public servant".
Mr Crotty was awarded the Freedom of Kilkenny in 2015 and was heavily involved in local sports clubs.
Former Taoiseach John Bruton described Mr Crotty as a friend who was strong-minded, who brought very valuable practical business experience to bear on political issues.
