Preparations are in full swing for the return of the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show this August, with livestock owners from around the country expected to attend.

This year there is a prize fund of €175,000 across various livestock classes including dairy, pedigree and commercial cattle as well as sheep classes and the All Ireland Pig of the Year competition.

Speaking at the launch today, Chairman of the Tullamore Show, Joseph Molloy, said they are delighted to be back.

"It's been a long spell with no shows and people are eager to showcase their wares, whether its prize livestock, baking, crafts or trade stands and many more.

"Tullamore Show is always a great family day out with something of interest for everyone. We look forward to welcoming all urban and rural dwellers to enjoy the diverse attractions and entertainment," said Mr Molloy.

This year’s show will take place on Sunday 14 August at the Butterfield Estate, Blueball, Co Offaly.
