A suspicious device has been discovered at a housing estate in Drogheda, Co Louth this morning.

Gardaí were called to the Moneymore estate at around 10.20am today.

The garda armed support unit is at the scene and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit has been called.

The area has been sealed-off and some houses have been evacuated. 

Gardaí say their investigation is ongoing.
