An investigation is under way after a teenage boy was killed in a hit-and-run collision involving two cars in Co Louth last night.
The boy, who was in his late teens and a passenger in one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at Ballymascanlon, Dundalk, at around 9pm.
The driver left the scene of the crash on foot.
He later presented himself to gardaí in Dundalk and is assisting them with their investigation.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with minor injuries.
The road remains closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the Ballymascanlon area between 8pm and 9pm yesterday to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
