Writer and disability activist Paddy Doyle dies

The award-winning writer and disability activist Paddy Doyle has died, his family have announced.

He was well known for being outspoken on issues such as disability and child abuse.

Mr Doyle was the author of the best-selling novel The God Squad, a searing account of institutional abuse.

Paddy Doyle was born in Wexford on 19 May 1951. 

He is survived by his wife, three sons and six grandchildren.
