Swim bans imposed on four well-known beaches in Co Wexford last week have been lifted following an improvement in water quality.
The prohibition notices had been issued last week at Ballymoney north, Duncannon, Booley Bay and Morris Castle near Kilmuckridge after testing detected high levels of E-coli and intestinal enterococci.
The contamination was put down to the heavy rain which had been falling in the area during the days beforehand.
Wexford County Council said today that further testing has shown that the water in the areas involved is back to its "usual excellent standard" and all four beaches are safe for swimming.
Meanwhile, water quality results for 15 other beaches which are regularly tested has been remains "excellent," according to the council.
