Hook Lighthouse, the most popular tourist attraction in Wexford, will reopen to visitors on 29 June following the temporary closure enforced by Covid-19.

Tours of the lighthouse itself will be limited to families or groups of five people at a time given the limited space inside, but free passes for the popular grounds will be available by booking online.

According to management, the staff have taken carefully measured steps to reopen in a safe manner, with the lighthouse, the Lightkeeper's Cafe and the outdoor dining option The Seahorse all to open seven days per week from 10am to 6pm.

"Behind the scenes, we have been changing lots of our access points on-site and arranging new systems in order to create the safest possible environment for the Hook team and all of our visitors," manager Lorraine Waters said.

"We are asking all of our visitors to help us to help them and to keep in mind all social distance guidelines and, most importantly, for now we require everyone planning to visit to log onto our website and book a free grounds access pass for the date that they would like to visit."

The cafe will have socially distanced seating and there is additional outdoor seating on the lighthouse lawns, while the playground will be open and sanitised every hour.

Tours of the lighthouse, housed in an 800-year-old tower, will be available to visitors who are on-site or can be pre-booked by phoning 051-397055.
