Several units of the fire brigade in Co Kildare are at the scene of a major blaze near the Bord Na Móna Drehid waste management disposal plant.
The plant is in Killinagh upper near Carbury.
Black smoke is billowing into the air for the last hour and efforts are under way to get a fire under control.
Two units entered the Drehid Landfill and at least two more units are stationed elsewhere on the perimeter of the complex in case the fire spreads throughout the thousands of acres of bogland.
The landfill facility itself is not on fire.
Drehid Waste Management Facility is one of the largest landfill sites in the country with a 120,000 tonnes per annum engineered landfill and a 25,000 tonnes per annum composting facility.
It is the second time in recent days that fire crews battled a blaze in the same area.
On Friday Air Corp helicopters were called in to help fight the blaze.
