A horse that had fallen into a bog drain has been saved after a three-hour operation to free him.
Gardaí and Fire Services from Longford spent three hours last night rescuing the animal after it fell into the three-metre (10ft) deep bog drain, which was filled with water.
The horse was pulled out and is now recovering at the Hungry Horse Foundation who also assisted emergency services in the rescue.
