Seven injured in Carlow five-car collision

Seven people were taken to hospital after a five-car collision in Co Carlow last night.

The crash occurred at The Forge area on the main N80 Bunclody Road south-east of Carlow town  at about 6.30pm.

One of the drivers was taken to Wexford General Hospital with serious injuries while four others were taken to University Hospital Waterford and two were taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.

Emergency services, including a number of ambulances, attended the scene and gardaí cordoned off the crash site pending a forensic collision investigation.

The road was closed but has since reopened.
