Gardaí have renewed an appeal for further information in its murder investigation into a fatal house fire that killed a young woman and two children in Kilcock, Co Kildare 32 years ago.
Barbara Doyle, 20, and her two nieces, eight-year-old Mary Ellen Byrne and three-year-old Kerrie Byrne, died in the fire at the home of the Byrne family on Church Lane on 20 September 1987.
Ms Doyle was a sister of the children's mother, Elizabeth Byrne, and was babysitting on the night.
Elizabeth and her husband Aidan had gone out to a 21st birthday party when the fire broke out at their house.
In 2017 gardaí upgraded the investigation to a murder inquiry after new information was received that the fire was started deliberately.
Gardaí said they had discovered a number of strands of new evidence which they could not disclose in the event of a prosecution, but these led them to believe the fire was started deliberately.
In a new appeal launched today gardaí say they "firmly believe" that people in Kilcock and the surrounding community have information in relation to the fire.
