Gardaí investigating alleged sexual assaults on a number of teenage girls at a popular coastal resort want to speak to a man who is believed to have come to the girls' help at the time.

The appeal was issued this evening in relation to the alleged incident in Courtown in the early hours of Saturday, 28 July last.

Three teenage girls told gardaí that they were sexually assaulted by a number of males at about 12.15am in the Burrow Road area outside the seaside village in Co Wexford.

The incident is understood to have occurred after a party on a nearby beach.

Gardaí in Gorey are investigating the allegations and have issued a number of appeals to the public for information.

Their latest appeal centres on their wish to speak to "a male who is understood to have come to the assistance of three females on the night of the incident".

The complainants in the case are believed to be from the Dublin area.

"Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and the ages of those involved, no further information is available at this time," a spokesman said.

In the days following the incident, gardaí travelled to a number of addresses in Co Waterford and Co Kilkenny in an attempt to speak to possible suspects in the case.

However, no arrests have yet been made.

Gardaí previously sought the help of anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the alleged incident and who had dash-cam footage.
