A major pipe burst has affected water supply for a number of people in parts of Drogheda, Co Louth.

According to Irish Water, the areas affected by the pipe burst include the Dublin Road, Bryanstown and Platin Road.

A spokesperson for Irish Water said that the burst is centered around an industrial estate.

The spokesperson added "that a small localised area is hit by it, affecting some residential properties and small estates".

The utility company says that repair works are under way, but that because of the scale of the pipe burst, works be completed by 11.30pm.

Irish Water says that full water service may take some time to return. It says that its Customer Care Team can be contacted on 1850 278 278.
