A fresh appeal for information has been made a year on from the disappearance of a Lithuanian woman who was living in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Giedre Raguckaite was last seen alive at a house in Laytown in Co Meath on 29 May last year.

She was reported missing to gardaí in August.

Gardaí have interviewed a number of people in connection with her disappearance, including two Lithuanian men she was last seen with.

One of the men is believed to be involved in serious crime and is currently in prison on a separate matter.

Ms Raguckaite came to Dundalk in April and had applied for a Personal Public Service (PPS) number to work in Ireland.

She moved out of her accommodation on 24 May and between then and 29 May there were two sightings of her in Dundalk.

Gardaí are trying to establish where she was staying during those five days.

Detectives have established that she was last seen alive at a house at the Beach Grove Estate in Laytown on 29 May.

It is understood she was very intoxicated and was helped into the house by two men at around 11pm that night.

Gardaí received reports she had been carried unconscious into the house and was put into an ice bath.

They believe she was then taken from the house a few hours later, at around 1.45am by two Lithuanian men in a stolen Land Cruiser.

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation but they still do not know where Ms Raguckaite's body is or how she died.

Last November they carried out a search of house in Laytown, as part of the investigation.

There have been no arrests so far.

Gardaí are liaising with police in the UK, where Ms Raguckaite lived before coming to Ireland and in her home country of Lithuania.

Her family is being kept informed of the situation.

The last confirmed contact with Ms Raguckaite was with her father in Lithuania by phone at 6.30pm Irish time on 29 May 2018.

She explained to him that she was out socialising.

It is believed she was in the Dundalk area until around 8pm that evening.

Gardaí have established that her phone has not been in use since the morning of 30 May nor has there been any activity on her social media accounts or with family or friends.

They have appealed to people who may have seen her out socialising to contact them.

They are also looking to speak to people in the College Heights area of Dundalk where she lived and the Beach Grove Estate in Laytown where she was last seen.

They also want information on where she was staying between 24 May and 29 May and would like to speak to anyone who may have information.

They especially want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or knows anything about the circumstances of the young woman's disappearance.

Gardaí say they have native Lithuanian speakers available should they need be needed to help progress the investigation.
