An investigation is under way after three cars, which are believed to belong to gardaí, were damaged in a suspected arson attack in Co Louth.
The cars were parked in a housing estate in Knockbridge.
It is believed one car was set on fire and the two other cars were damaged in the blaze.
Gardaí said that investigations are ongoing, but did not confirm who owned the vehicles.
Fianna Fáil Deputy Declan Breathnach, who lives in Knockbridge, condemned the incident.
Mr Breathnach said: "Intimidation of gardaí or officers of our State is not something the vast majority of citizens of this State support.
"I condemn such actions by those criminals whose activity in my area is not reflective of the residents of Knockbridge or Co Louth," he added.
The attack has been condemned by the Garda Representative Association.
General Secretary Pat Ennis described it as a serious crime and said that, regrettably, the targeting of gardaí working to protect communities is becoming more common.
He said the attack is unlikely to be a coincidence and almost certainly connected to their work.
Mr Ennis said he hopes those responsible are brought to justice and dealt with appropriately by the courts.
