A man in his 30s is being treated for serious injuries after a shooting at the M1 Retail Park in Drogheda.

The man, who sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after the incident, which happened at around 2.45pm.

The man was shot after he left a premises in the retail park and got into a white Vauxhall Astra car with two other men.

A black Volkswagen Passat with a 132-D registration pulled up close to the Astra and a number of shots were fired into it.

The man, who was a passenger in the car, was hit at least once. The other two men were not injured.

The driver of the white Astra drove from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. The black Passat also left the scene.

Gardaí have located a burnt out car at Termonfeckin, Co Louth. It has been removed for a technical examination.

It is understood the shooting is linked to an ongoing feud.

The scene was sealed off as part of their investigation. Gardaí are also examining the white Astra, which remains at the hospital.
