The DSPCA is looking for a foster home over Christmas for a litter of seven puppies named after Santa's reindeer.

Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Blitzen and Rudolf are four-week-old lab-collie puppies that have come to the DSPCA with their mother from another rescue centre.

The DSPCA said the dogs "will need an indoor foster home with an enclosed garden for around four weeks".

"A happy lively home with perhaps young teenagers or adults would be perfect."

The charity, based in Rathfarnham in the Dublin mountains, said it fosters more than 1,000 animals a year.

The programme gives animal lovers the opportunity to care for a cat or dog that is not yet ready for adoption.

Puppies need to be fostered until they are eight weeks old, when they are vaccinated and can be brought back to the rescue and rehoming centre to be adopted.
